A problem drawing any type of shape

Can you explain why setImage() isn't functional in the World class?

There is no setImage() method in the World class to use in it's subclasses. The above code is for drawing onto the image but to do setImage in a subclass of World you'll have to use "setBackground(java.lang.String filename)" (It's a little different than setImage from Actor).

Nobody said the code for scrolling was basic and easy. In fact, scrolling is quite involved and not recommended for the inexperienced programmer.

I also can't seem to open your scenario to check it in greenfoot itself?

You are to run the scenario here on the site. There is also a link to a discussion thread in the description with some basic instruction and code to look at.

Changing images

A web search turned up something helpful: During initialisation, set the default close operation to "do nothing": <Code Omitted> (On line 12 for example).

You will have to show the entire Mouse2 class and at least one of the other classes that have actor involved -- maybe the Cactus class. That way we may be able to determine better what is going on. Use code tag (there is a 'code' link bellow the reply box and a help page link below that.

non-static method cannot be referenced from a static context

World is a class name. You cannot add an actor to a class. The compiler is looking for a 'static' method because you used the name of a class instead of an object reference. You need to add it to a World object. The Actor class method 'getWorld' returns the World object that the actor is in. Use: <Code Omitted>

Thanks, now my picture (and "The source highlighting issue") works (even with my originally saved JPEG that didn't have danpost's recommended changes). I noticed that now on the Greenfoot site in the discussions the "Post a reply" box is only on the last page and on the first pages it says "There are more replies on the next page." I like this change because I made the mistake of replying to a question on the first page when it was answered on the second (here the eleventh post on the page).
