What would happen if you were to eliminate the stroke on the shapes? Since when the shaped get small the shape strokes overtake the images. The circles pattern is neat - you could make a random 3..n split on that and come up with all sorts of cool things.

Messing with transparency and randomizing the size shrinkage makes for some not bad explosion pictures.
