I am a writer and musician who is also passionate about teaching computer programming to kids. We teach, reading, writing, arithmetic, science and humanities as a basis to critical thinking for students. I believe two things passionately. First learning to program, in effect applying logic to solve a problem or create a desired effect, will substantially increase critical thinking abilities. Second but maybe more important is that if we don't help to create more minds that can solve problems, and know the inner workings of our overwhelmingly technological world, we as a society become "the programmed". We will always be at the mercy of those who can and overtime become gradually more powerless to evoke change.
