MENU?
By programmer22, with 3 replies.
Last reply by danpost, almost 14 years ago:
I checked out the asteroids scenario by dordor (downloaded it, removed a couple of music files, opened it in Greenfoot, adjusted code due to lack of music files, and ran it). The three items on the front screen are basically just buttons (not menus). In other words, each one did a specific task, without any choice by the user. A menu would require input from the user as to how to continue.

Robot Apocalypse: Collision while scrolling
By N1G3L2, with 3 replies.
Last reply by sp33dy, almost 14 years ago:
In my opinion, you have two options. Either: 1. keep the main character in the middle of the screen and always scrolling left or right. I.E. the character actor never moves independently. 2. Allow the character actor to move around and detect when it reaches a left/right point in which scroll will be activated. I.E. when in range of 100 pixels of left/right, allow scroll. There are likely to be other ways, but from all the games I've played since the early 80's, these are usually the two strategies employed.

How to operate on a list of objects individually?
By darkmist255, with 2 replies.
Last reply by darkmist255, almost 14 years ago:
Hohoho, you are wise. Never though about it in reverse :D. Yeah, I think I'll just write a method in the "enemy" class that detects a collision with an explosion and if so damages the enemy type subclass.

Sorry! I'm posting before I think them through!! I realised that the tutorial spelled out what was needed for the first part (moveAndTurn) but not for eat. I have now copied the same format for eat and it's working fine. Thanks if you have tried to help me.
