'private' sets the accessibility of the field to only the class the line is in (see Controlling Access to Members of a Class). 'static' means that the field belongs to the class and not to any particular object of that class. Using 'new World()' first would not work because the case is wrong for your subclass of World and an error will ensue saying 'World' is abstract and cannot be instantiated. You need to supply the name of Actor class and movement code of the actor (or preferably the entire class). Knowing how the actor moves will help in arriving at a solution.

You do not have to save the image to a file -- it is a GreenfootImage object referenced by a field (I will name the field 'image').. All you need to do is to create a reference to the new world when you create it. If 'GameWorld' was the name of your game world, then: <Code Omitted>creates the reference in 'gw'. From there you can execute method and access fields in the new world using the dot operator on 'gw' (for example 'gw.setBackground(image);' or 'gw.getPlayer().setImage(image);' or 'gw.player.setImage(image);'). If you want to remove only objects from specified classes, you can write the line multiple times replacing 'null' with 'ClassName.class' -- one line for each different class type.
