In your first code post, you had 'Character2.png', 'Character3.png', etc. In your second code post, you only had 'Character2', 'Character3', etc.

I think my way would a bit more in-depth. Run my Jump and Run Demo w/Moving Platform scenario and see the 'moveVertically' method of the 'Who' class (click on the 'Who' button).
