I like the explosion effect, but the reaction time is a little to long, maybe this is why it does run slow for me.

I would add "multipress", so that you can press more than one key at once, also you can not play fast. I think it is a good idea.

Desert Themed Scrolling Platformer Game

You could add accelleration for your player, more mobs(maybe with more than one life, attacking the hero,they could turn themselfes (flip the image) if they are walking the different direction,...). I like the textures. How did you make them, or where did you get them?
