You most likely will not be stopped or punished if you do. There are numerous Mario/Pac-Man clones here and all of those images are copyrighted. It is a copyright violation to publish assets if permission has not been granted. Usually when the copyright owner sees a violation they usually have their lawyers send a take a down notice to the web master. You bring up an interesting point, it could be made part of the usage terms to not publish copyrighted material.

How many images did you use? It might be possible to swap out or make derivative works.
At the moment 12 (I changed them a bit for example the color or I cut them together).
I think it would be possible, but I want to add more and I also have enough to save time for searching in the internet for new ones.
And the biggest advantage is that they fit together in the theme.
