Hi I am helping my 11 year old son with this book over his summer holidays. He is a disillusioned ICT student, who thought secondary school meant learning more things about computers, not just repeating what he could do 3 or 4 years ago. Anyway, sorry to digress, he is stumped by exercise 3.8 on page 35. He is sure the answer he has put is correct but it does not work. Hopefully this screen shot works! Screen shot Any help would be gratefully received and would do no end for my street cred with him! Thanks Paul

Hi Advnging, Thanks for your help, unfortunately my son is away camping this weekend but I'll show him this discussion so he can sort it out and post the rest of the screen shot. Thanks Paul

Hi Pelyma, I came across your comment re. school ICT lessons. As an ICT teacher - I couldn't agree more! It's very frustrating and the nonsense I have to teach (PowerPointLess, etc) is often dictated by higher authorities. I often encourage parents to ask our school management why GCSE/GCE Computing are not offered, which would force big changes to the Form I-III curriculum. I encourage you to do the same. Zaphod

Hi Advenging, I am Paul's son Matthew. I have read your reply and it has sorted out my problem and I can now continue to follow the book. Thank you for explaining how to solve the problem and I am sure it will help me understand future exercises. Thanks again Matthew
