Hi,
I know that the question was already asked several times in this fourm:
'how to turn off auto-compile'
And I know the usual answer: it's not possible and auto-compile is not a problem because you still can edit code when compiling. But unfortunately, that's not the case... Yesterday, in my CS lesson, I was typing 'live' code showing an exercice solution to my students. And it was a nightmare. After typing a few characters the editor paused, saved the code and compiled it. I was blocked during about 5-10 seconds each time. Apparently there are situation where auto-compile makes real trouble (old computer with old OS with slow network (for instance when project is saved on shared drive over network)). In those situations, the possibility to disable auto-compile and launch manually compilation (CTRL + K) would be very usefull! Greenfoot is great but since we passed to the 3.1 version, auto-compile slows everything and makes the use of the editor a really bad experience.
Thanks a lot for your precious work
Laurent (a teacher using for years Greenfoot with his students)
