Hello, I am relatively new to greenfoot. Basically I am trying to make a top down game with different items and enemies. Is this even possible to accomplish on greenfoot? I'm pretty sure creating this won't be as simple as other scenarios others are producing.

It is, of course, possible; and will only be as difficult as you make it to be. Usually, top down scenarios, being basically two-dimensional, are easier than side view scenarios because gravity is not a factor and movement in all directions is consistent.
