Your browser is ignoring the <APPLET> tag.

I can't load any scenario online, even my own. I've tried updating my Java to the latest version; tried using Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and even Internet Explorer. None of them worked. What do I do?

go to http://java.com using firefox, there is a download button there. click it. it will help, then you have to go to the java control panel and add http://www.greenfoot.org/ and http://greenfoot.org to the exceptions list.

I did exactly that and still see can't see any game content. Just the message "Your browser is ignoring the <APPLET> tag."

You only need "http://www.greenfoot.org/" in the Exception Site List by security in the Java Control Panel, but it still won't work in all browsers, try using Internet Explorer (if you haven't).

Firefox still works might want to use that IE will be defunct soon. Or people could just make the scenarios downloadable so they can be played in the local greenfoot installs.

What do you mean "will be defunct soon"? (I'm assuming "IE" meant Internet Explorer)

Yes, I have tried that as well as including "http://greenfoot.org" in the exception list. It still won't work in either case. And I'm not sure why I should use that crappy browser IE because I actually want to know why it DOESN'T work in FF.

@mkramer, et al. -- it may be that the security level for trusted sites in your internet options is too high.

In the Java Control Panel or FF settings?

In IE settings. Open IE and in far right in header is a gear-shaped icon. The drop-down has 'Internet options' in it.

Sorry for sounding stubborn but I won't use IE. In the meantime I found a description from Oracle for all browsers whenever someone runs into the same problem. I also found out, that Java Applets won't run in 64-bit Firefox. Thanks @danpost and @Nosson1459 for the fast reply. Edit: At least on December 14th 2016 it said
Note: The 64-bit version of Firefox does not recognize or support this plugin.

how do you make it so that when you export it, it works? I'm trying to get it onto other computers that don't have greenfoot. (edit: not trying to reply to you, but I can't delete it.)

The other computer must have java installed and you need to tell the program to 'Open with...' it (for starters).
You need to login to post a reply.
