When I'm writing the code, the auto-compile feature sometimes doesn't let me write for about 3 seconds. It's starting to get annoying, so I want to know if there's a way to turn it off and only compile the code when I want.

What do you mean? You should still be able to edit during compilation. (There is no way to turn off auto-compile).
