You the player is taking controls as a kid, in which your goal to winning the game is to chase the butterfly. However, you cannot be touched, or stung, by the bees. If a bee does get the kid, greenfoot will end and the game is therefore lost. The controls of the kid is the arrow keys, moving up, down/left, right.
