object is hiding behind image
By madan, with 2 replies.
Last reply by FutureCoder, over 9 years ago:
You need to remove the car object, then add it in again and save the world, that should solve the problem, without have to put in any code. If the finishing line is added to the world while the code is running, it won't work, it has to be in the world from the very beginning, before it starts to run.
Animation method

Last reply by valdes, over 9 years ago:
If you say that animation() works, then I think the error is this: In the code you show, <Code Omitted> is not initialized. In the constructor <Code Omitted> add <Code Omitted>or change the call to <Code Omitted> and delete the variable numOfImgs_KanyeIdle

<Code Omitted>That is all that can be supplied at this time with what you show. You should set up the health before anything more can be done here. There are plenty of discussion thread on setting up health for an actor. Just run a search in the title bar above.
getHeight Nullpointerexception

@umer, yours is a totally different type of issue. It has nothing in common with the discussion so far. Why would you post your issue here and not start a new discussion thread? Also, you need to be more specific as to what you are having problems with. As is, it appears you want us to do your homework for you. There is another recent discussion that discusses the use of the DecimalFormat class; so you could check that out as far as its use is concerned.

There is a ScoreBoard class that you can import. From the menubar, select "Edit>Import class..." and choose the ScoreBoard class. It explains how to save high scores as well.

Replied to by danpost, over 9 years ago:
You can use (import first) the java.text.DecimalFormat class and then use the following lines of code: <Code Omitted>supplying the 'amount' (money value).
help with score counter
By AdamSteele, with 1 reply.
Replied to by danpost, over 9 years ago:
Line 6 declares a local variable of type 'myworld' called 'space'. Yet, when trying to get the counter on line 7, you use 'myWorld' which is declared as a 'World' object on line 4. Since the counter is in the 'myWorld' class, you cannot use a variable of type World to access it.

My character keeps falling through the platform
By AdamSteele, with 1 reply.
Replied to by danpost, over 9 years ago:
The main problem that beginners have when creating a "jump-n-run" type scenario is that they do not account for the vertical direction of movement when performing collision checking. The direction of movement will determine whether the jumper should be positioned above or below the object collided with. In either case, the vertical speed should be reset to zero. In your code, I do not see any repositioning of the jumper when a collision occurs. Also, your 'onGround' method does not really determine if the platform is really 'under' the jumper. By using the sign of the vertical speed (the
